Down

Down

I was down for a change

Weighted down by dread

My face frowning

An anchor in my chest

Down wasn’t so bad, it’s only natural

I’ve been up next to the sun

Blind and oblivious

Above myself

An alien to all life

Floating in limbo

And in an ethereal state of daydream

It’s about time I came back to earth

I’m down to go down below the atmosphere

Breaking the hollow shell of the surface ground

Planting my bare feet firmly in the gritty and soft soil

And digging into the dense soil under

Even further down: the organic roots

Surrounded by the darkest darkness yet

And full of life

I want to capture life and put it into this form known as poetry.
